With the joint effort of The Federal Capital Territory Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS) operatives have rescued 14 persons abducted by kidnappers in the Byazhin, Kubwa area of Bwari Area Council in Abuja.
The victims, who were kidnapped at the Gauraka area of Niger State by the gunmen, were rescued at the Bwari hills by a combined team of police, DSS operatives and Local hunters on Thursday.
According to the report the Joint Operation, led by the Command’s anti-kidnapping squad combed, the forests and engaged in a fierce gun duel following which two of the suspected kidnappers were arrested.
Some other kidnappers escaped with bullet wounds.
On Thursday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam said Exhibits recovered from the kidnappers’ den are two(2) AK-47 magazines and cooking utensils.
This was followed when two residents of the Byazhin area was kidnapped by gunmen regained their freedom after allegedly paying N2m.
The News Agency of Nigeria earlier reported that the two men, Mr Ayodele Somorin and Mr Oladimeji Josiah, a carpenter, were kidnapped in their homes on May 21.
Meanwhile, the victims gained their freedom after spending about five days in the kidnappers’ den.
